IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO THE WORLD OF DISASTER RELIEF FOR 24 HRS

Shelterbox is an International disaster relief organisation delivering emergency shelter to families devastated by conflict and natural disaster. Families lose their homes, their belongings and everything they hold dear is destroyed. What if this was you? What would it take to rebuild your home and life?

Join us for an overnight camp out with a difference, and find out how emergency shelter helps families recover after disaster. A ShelterBox tent will be your home for 24 hours, as your team takes part in challenges and learns about the families we support. Each tent will be given a different family scenario to work through, with challenges & activities, working in teams against different scenarios.

Your team of 4 will be immersed in the world of international disaster relief for 24 hours, where your support will be making a huge difference to families worldwide. The campout experience is designed to take you through the ShelterBox journey with creative, challenging and thought-provoking activities. Providing you with a better understanding of how & why ShelterBox deploy, why our aid is important and why the need for disaster aid relief is important now, today, more than ever.

Whilst the ShelterBox campout does not aim to replicate the experiences of the families we support, you and your team will be taken through a series of activities that will enable you to develop a deeper insight into the world of disaster relief and how the provision of ‘shelter’ aids recovery.

Pay a registration fee of £25 per person (non-refundable).
This includes food, water and a ShelterBox tent.

FAQ for Fundraisers

Q – What if I have special dietary requirements?
A – We are going to provide vegetarian options, but please do let us know about your dietary requirements beforehand.

Q – Can I come as an individual? What if I cannot find 3 others to make a team of 4?
A – Although you will need to register individually, we encourage you to come as a team of 4. This can be your colleagues, team mates, friends, family etc. However, If you would like to register and do not have a ‘team’ in mind, please do email me and we will reserve your name on the waiting list, where we will try and match you up with 3 others. It is important you do not go ahead and pay the registration fee of £100, unless you are sure you have 3 other people to join your team.

Q – Can I bring alcohol with me?
A – NO.! The campout has a strict no-alcohol policy (for various reasons that needs no explanation)

Q – What should I bring with me?
A – If you had to leave at a moment’s notice, what would you take with you?
NB – Word of advice: pack for a 24hr camping trip, and if you forget everything else, BRING A SLEEPING BAG!

Q – What do I wear?
A – Although we cannot give much away, our best advice is to come prepared for a lot of outdoor activities on a campsite

Q – Will there be tents provided?
A – Yes. Each team will be sleeping in a ShelterBox tent where our aid items will also be present

Q – Will there be toilet facilities?
A – Yes. But an advice from me to you- bring wipes!

Q – Am I fit enough to attend?
A – We do not want fitness abilities to deter you from taking part in the action. If there is anything you are particularly worried about, please do let me know. All activities can be adapted to fit your fitness level, however please come prepared to spend a night in a tent.

Q – Will there be car parking?
A – Yes. The site is also easy to get to via buses and trains if you decide not to drive

Q – Can I bring my phone/digital devices?
A – Whatever you bring with you, aside from a sleeping bag of course, is up to you

Q – Are there any age or legal requirements involved?
A – You must be 18 or over at the time of registration to be able to attend. NB – No sharp objects and no alcoholic drinks are allowed on site.

Q – Who’s coming?
A – We are promoting this event locally. Local businesses and community groups e.g. membership organisations such as Rotary, have all been invited.

Q – What is the fine print I am missing?
A – Three basic things you need to be aware of :

1 – Registration fee of £100 is non-refundable. This is an individual cost which helps us to cover the costs associated with the event, with the remainder going to the families we support.

2 – Pledge to fundraise the cost of a Shelterbox (£590). This fundraising target is set per team. Each team will be helping a family affected by disaster/conflict

3 – What is the one material thing you would take with you if you lost your home? Bring that with you.
