Brighton & Hove Soiree Rotary Club spent Sunday 5th January 2020 collecting Christmas trees across Brighton and Hove to raise money for local charities. Sponsoring the event for the third year running, Mishon Mackay’s staff and their families joined the teams alongside more than 70 volunteers collecting Christmas trees for a charitable donation.
The event raised over £7,000 including sponsorship, and this money will be donated to the Rotary Club’s chosen charities, including Martlets Hospice, Fareshare and Starr Trust. For more information about the charities and projects that we support, click here. 100% of the money raised will help local Rotary charities during 2020. If you didn’t have a tree to collect, please feel free to make a donation to our good causes via our new Kindlink Online Donation page.
Simon Alldis, President of Brighton & Hove Soiree Rotary Club, added: “I should like to thank Mishon Mackay for its continuing and invaluable support for our annual Christmas tree collection event which enabled us to raise more than £7000 this year.
“This fantastic amount will be distributed to local charities and other Rotary Club supported charities. I am sure that the event would be much less successful without Mishon Mackay’s support and on behalf of all our Rotary members, we thank you again.”
Steve Neocleous, Hove Sales & Business Development Director of Mishon Mackay said: “The Rotary Club Christmas tree collection is an event we are always happy to support.
“My team and I love chatting to people as we collect donations and recycle their trees. It warms our hearts knowing that we have raised money for worthy causes at the start of the year! We look forward to continuing our support for this great initiative for years to come.”
The collected trees do not go to landfill, but are responsibly recycled to make soil or compost, helping to improve the environment.
Thank you to everyone who has regularly supported Brighton and Hove Soiree Club with our fund-raising efforts over the Christmas period. We have raised thousands of pounds from recycling Christmas trees and generous contributions made at local supermarkets, to our collectors, our choir the Loose Canons, and our Mermaid School! Massive thanks go to all the companies who sponsor our Christmas Tree collection, including Mishon Mackay who donated £750, as well as Adams & Remers Solicitors, Best Practice Chiropractic, MW Solictors, Pepper Fox, SEI Group, Wilson Sandford and Handelsbanken who have each donated £200. Mayberry Garden Centre and Jackson Waste both kindly provided a van and driver to help on the day of the collection. Thank you to the scouts who deliver the leaflets, and all the drivers, collectors and tree luggers, including famous blogger Niomi Smart, who made this lovely video when she volunteered for us.
Thank you all.!
