Our club once again sponsored three talented competitors at the District Final of the Rotary Young Musician of the year.
Lotte Pearl (17 years old) sang Vilja from the Merry Widow by Lehar and If I loved you from The Rogers and Hammerstein show Carousel. Lotte was highly commended by the judges in the vocalist section.
Molly O’Flynn (12 years old) a violinist played Sonata in A, Opus 5, No by Paganini followed by Black Eyes a traditional Russian tune arranged by Waterfield. The Adjudicators complimented her on the fluidity of her performance in the instrumentalists section.
Natasha O’Flynn (16 years old) was the winning instrumentalist having played with excellent control according to the Adjudicators. She performed Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin and Prelude number 4 by Debussy.
Natasha qualified for the Regional Final but sadly, the coronavirus crisis has of course caused the competition to be cancelled, along with most of our other events.
